I want to firstly thank Lora for asking me if I would be a Guest designer for The Cute and Girly Challenge blog this month.. thank you hun. xxxxxx
The brief that I was given was, that this month is a colour challenge of
Red and one other colour..
The fabulous thing about the Cute and Girly Challenge blog is that you can join in with the challenge with any project.. it could be with a card, tag, scrap page layouts, knitting, jewellery making.. anything really..
I went with Red and Beige/browns.
Me well i thought… what the heck, I'll do something different than my normal card.. I originally was just going to do the little crochet bear.. but that progressed to making a little box for him to sit in.. and boy was this project a labour of love… lol…
The crochet bear.. now don’t laugh as this is only the second one i have ever made, Hollie had the first one, (I’ll post a piccie of him at the bottom of this post.. ) and I have just noticed that i forgot to give him/her some eyelids.. oh dear! he looks a little startled and scared… Rofl. he measures 2 1/4” sitting.
Teddy’s box.. oh my word.. I tell you .. i am not so great with working measurements, but was determined to get this right.. The box measure 3.5” not including the flower detail on the top. I cut out a window to the front of the box so i could add a clear window.. which i ran through an embossing folder.. I sandwiched the window between the card and dp and then ran around it with the sewing machine before attaching it to the box. the dp is Tim Holtz and is from the lost and found paper stack. all four sides and the lid have this dp on it..
The Key on the front has been cut using a tim holtz die in grunge board and then i added some distress paints in antique linen and around the edge white picket fence, i then sponged it with barn door distress ink. phew all that to make a key!!! which i then went and covered with twine flowers lace and a button.. lol. oh and the little ball things are what i have had an age.. i got them free with some glue..
The lid.. the key hole has been done the same way as the key.. and the flower has been made using dp from the same paper pack and die cut with tattered florals die by tim holtz. spritzed with glimmer mist and then finished with a half pearl. the roses are from wild orchid crafts.
bear in the box.. the edge of the lid was first covered with lace and then i added some hug snug seam binding in croquette beige.
and here is the sweetie that i made for Hollie, His belly is over stuffed and my tension on the stitches are all over the place… lol.. but she loves him. I kind of think that it gives him character.. his eyelids kinda make him look like he is concerned about something.. bless.. rofl..
any way if your still with me after this mammoth of a post.. thank You..
I hope that this has inspired you to join in with this months challenge at
big hugs Rach.
